ARA

Google's modular phone project, which took off a while ago, helps user customize their phone their phone they would like to.
The concept is simple one,all the bits can be pulled off and swapped as you see fit
About the sametime or little earlier when phoneblocks are announced by the dave hakkens, the concept of modular phone picked up the steam and was developed by the MOTOROLA'S advanced technology and projects(ATAP) group owned by the google and managed by regina dugan, the former director of defence advanced research projects agency(DARPA).In the second half of 2014 google sold motorola to lenovo, but retained ATAP as well as all its patents. Now a days everything related to modular phones is assosiated with  project dubbed ara.
By now ara is no longer an experimental part of ATAP,it has became an independent division within google.
SIZE OF ARA phone
Ara modules are standardised, initially the phone was supposed to have three sizes:
Small - 45*118*9.7mm
Medium - 68*141*9.7mm
Big - 91*164*9.7mm

OPERATING SYSTEM
According to ATAP the phone will work on android. For now google has no plans to expand their phone compatibilities to WINDOWS,SYMBIAN or any other OS.

At the time it was announed that the cheapest base version was set around $50-$100.Individual modules may vary in price from $10-$300 or even higher, depending on module functionality.
